All the participants who successfully complete their program will receive an MIT Professional Education Certificate of Completion, as well as Continuing Education Units (CEUs)*.

To obtain CEUs, complete the accreditation confirmation, which is available at the end of the course. CEUs are calculated for each course based on the number of learning hours.

*The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is defined as 10 contact hours of ongoing learning to indicate the amount of time they have devoted to a non-credit/non-degree professional development program. Course outline

This program provides professionals from various sectors with an insight into the fundamentals of blockchain and its practical applications. The objective is not only to understand how this technology works, but also to learn what its applications are in order to obtain the maximum benefit in the digital transformation projects that are developed.

  • Understand the historical evolution that has led to the emergence of blockchain

  • Become familiar with centralized cryptocurrency exchanges along with some examples. Grasp the pros and cons of this type of exchange

  • Understand how decentralized exchanges differ from centralized exchanges. See examples of decentralized exchanges and be aware of their advantages and disadvantages

  • Become familiar with the 0x protocol and understand its technical implementations and limitations

  • Understand how the societal aspects of governance can be applied to blockchain governance

  • Understand that, in the world of cryptocurrencies, the lack of a strong sense of governance can weaken the value of coins

  • Understand the components of blockchain governance and the considerations that need to be taken into account when building a blockchain

  • Understand the differences between public, private and consortium blockchains

  • List the benefits of consortium blockchains. Understand how a blockchain consortium of like-minded companies can leverage information to improve workflows, accountability and transparency

  • Describe how to create a blockchain consortium for your own industry

  • Understand the impact the cloud has on blockchain

  • Discuss serverless services as well as ledgers, and understand how these are intrinsically linked to blockchain

  • Leverage the Kaleido platform in order to start up a new blockchain using cloud infrastructure
